Issue Date: 2002
Abstract: The selection of coating technique must be carefully considered in drawing up production specifications. It is important to know, the coating process that can be done to achieve a desired coating. Consideration must be given to corrosion, friction, wear, fatigue etc. Most metals, alloys and some intermetallic compounds can be applied as coatings either individually or as mixtures. This investigation has been carried out to fulfill the need of the manufacturing engineers who wish to have a better grasp of metal finishing. By way of data acquisition from various literatures, a database has been created. A software programme has been developed in C language for obtaining optimization technique by data processing. By this software, an efficient coating technique can be found out for a given physical and mechanical properties requirement of a substrate with different size and shape.
