dc.description.abstract | Developments in the forging industry are greatly influenced by the world-wide requirements for manufacturing ever larger and more complex components from more difficult to forgematerials. The present and future needs of aerospac4 industry, increase in demand for stationary power systems, jet engines, air-craft compoients, turbine rotors, induction shaft, and ever increasing foreign technological competitkjn requires upgrading the quality of today `s forge products. Under this scenario with the advent of ISO series of standards, it has become imperative for today's metal forging industry to have a sound quality-assurance system, which would help in delivering the products meeting international quality standards. Present work is concerned with the study of quality-assurance system existing at CFFP, BHEL Hardwar, various safety and environmental measures taken by them and a case study of I.P rotor along with the major role played by NDT and hot stability test in its quality assurance is studied. A concept of Single Minute Exchange of Dies (S.MED) is also introduced. | en_US |
