Abstract: Genetic algorithms are being widely used for optimization, search and neural network syntheses. A lot of work has been conducted using genetic algorithm for different engineering problems related to scheduling and process planing in industrial engineering and network optimization in computer engineering. Genetic Adaptive Search, which involves all kinds of variablesin search and optimization, has been used for multi dimensional and multi-parameter problems Present work is an attempt to optimize a piston design using Genetic Adaptive Search. An attempt has also been made to use Genetic Adaptive Search technique for the robust and efficient optimal solution for the piston design
