The , process of energy separation in a vortex tube with air as a working medium is studied in detail. Experimental data of the temperatures of the cold and hot air leaving the vortex tube are presented. An equation for the prediction of the temperature of cold exit air based on the experimental results has been established.. COP of the vortex tube is very low. So, it is not economical to use it. for large capacity of refrigeration. It 'night be worth considering for applications of very low temperature. Temperature differences between exit streams and inlet of the vortex tube depend mainly on inlet pressure and cold air fraction. So, .temperature of the exit cold air stream can be lowered by lowering the inlet air temperature of the vortex tube. In this dissertation, a R-22 plant to lower the temperature of inlet air stream to the vortex tube, has been proposeden_US
