An upsurge in the product variety has increased the number and degree of machining parameters. Conciliating this with the need to decrease production costs is a difficult job. An attempt has been made to develop a database for selection of process parameter, machine tool, tolerance and surface finish, and tool. A storage and retrieval method is used to recommend various parameters. An extensive database is developed in DBASE III PLUS. For developing database MACHINING DA TA HANDBOOK is used as an information source. Further, the system is equipped with •a mathematical model for the selection of process parameters and t00% Empirical relations has been used for the justification of parameter selection on the basis of dimensional accuracy and surface finish.en_US
