The slosh behaviour of liquid in a horizontally moving rectangular container is studied experimentally. The container is mounted on rigid and spring supports. The damping in the liquid-container is enhanced by employing circular cavities on the side walls of the container. Similarly a cloth membrane is employed to enhance the damping in the oscillating liquid. The liquid is water. It is found that the container with cavities provides more damping; and the force, free surface displacement and pitching moment are less as compared to the container without cavities. This is generally true for various aspect ratios i.e. liquid depth to container length. The container with cloth membrane is a better option to control the slosh behaviour of the liquid.en_US
