Issue Date: 1998
Abstract: In this investigation an existing model l'or estimation of thermal behaviour of pulsed current MIG weld is suitably modified and the weld bead characteristics for bead on plate deposition, bead height, bead width and penetration are estimated. 'These bead characteristics are verified with experimental data reported by various workers. Also in case of multipass weld of AI-Zn-Mg alloy, the microstructure, dendrite fraction and reheat refined areas are estimated and the microstructure correlation ships are used to estimate the mechanical properties of the weld. These mechanical properties obtained and microstructure of multipass weld is also verified with reported experimental data. And a user friendly software is developed in C-language for the model.
