The slosh behaviour of liquid in a horizontally moving container is studied experimentally. The container is mounted on rigid supports. The damping in a liquid-container system is enhanced by providing cloth membrane. The liquid is water. The membrane is loaded with unidirectional tension or two directional tension in its plane. The tension in the membrane and its location is varied. It is found that the total force and free surface displacement response has been considerably reduced as compared to the container without membrane. This is generally true for various aspect ratios i.e. liquid depth to container length. Also, the two dimensional tension in the membrane is a better option- as compared to the unidirectional tension.en_US
