dc.description.abstractBatch production is a very common feature in industry. In batch production, medium size lots of the same item or product are manufactured. A batch production system in which more than one batch of different item types are processed simultaneously is known as multibatch production system. Present work-aims-at the optimization of multibatch production system, which involves design/ modelling of the system followed by -system optimization. The system has been modelled using petri nets. A software has been developed for system model testing and for optimization of multibatch production systemen_US
