Abstract: This work presents an analysis of the performance of cross-flow turbine (CFT) with the second-stage guide. The guide allows the freedom of altering the first-stage • blade exit angle to values other than the theoretically recommended value of 90°, without producing shock at the entry of the second-stage. In this study, an attempt has been made to obtain the impact of the second-stage guide on the performance of CFT by varying the first-stage blade exit angle: Since the determination. of the efficiency has been based on the principles of moment of momentum under the assumptions that the flow is entirely crossed and loss free, the work presented here has its limitations. Nevertheless, it provides an approximate indication of the effects of the second-stage guide by varying first-stage blade exit angle. It has been found that the use of a first-stage blade exit angle greater than 90° in conjunction with the second-stage guide, enhances the performance of the cross-flow turbine
