Today new materials with enhanced mechanical properties like toughness, hardness, wear resistance and corrosion resistance are the demands of industries. And all these can be collectively seen in nanostructured materials which are now. widely used for thermally sprayed coatings. One of the commonly used material is nanostructured cermet with all good mechanical properties. The current study deals with the wear behaviour WC-CoCr cermet coating which has gained industrial acceptance for diverse applications. Here the two coatings conventional and nanostructured WC-CoCr have been deposited by High Velocity Oxy-Fuel process which is one of the most promising thermal spray variant for depositing high quality wear resistance coatings. Both the coatings have been characterized by XRD analysis and FE-SEM/SEM to study microstructure, surface morphology and phases formed during thermal spraying. In this work two .types of wear studies have been conducted, one is slurry erosion testing and other is sliding wear testing. Nanostructured coating shows good results over conventional coating in both wear studies.en_US
