DEVELOPMENT OF WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM FOR A SUGAR MILL

Abstract

The work presented in this dissertation in the mill takes a system perspective of waste management which allows an integrated approach not only to the five basic functional element of waste management itself i.e. generation, reduction, collection, recycling, disposal but to the problems of using at the interfaces of waste management with energy, nature conservation, environmental protection etc. The work is carried out in Rai Bahadur Narain Singh Sugar Mlll at Laksar town. In the study carried out in the mill, an identification of all the waste being generated in the mill has been done. A through study of the prevailing WM systems in the mill is done and a critical evaluation of it's effectiveness is done. Keeping in view of the limitations of the existing WM system in the mill, new WMS is proposed keeping in view of the information obtained from the study of mill. A suitable model of WMIS for the mill is also proposed. For support of the management design making, a suitable forecasting method is also proposed.
