Title: PARAMETRIC STUDY OF ELECTROSTREAM DRILLING
Keywords: MECHANICAL INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING;PARAMETRIC STUDY;ELECTROSTREAM DRILLING;DRILLING DEEP MICROHOLES
Issue Date: 1997
Abstract: Drilling deep microholes is of great importance in paper, automobile, aerospace and in many other industries. Electrostream drilling, which is a special application of electrochemical machining, is one of the technique used to drill the holes having length to diameter (1/d) ratio from 30 to 50 and having diameter 0.15 to 0.50 mm. The present work i.e.. Parametric Study of Electrostream Drilling has been completed in two phases. Phase I includes the fabrication and assembly of experimental set-up and during second phase the experiments were conducted to know the effect of various parameters on the Electrostream drilling. The factors whose effect has been analysed are • Voltage D.C. • Concentration of electrolyte • Pressure of electrolyte • Type of electrolyte The observations were studied on the metal removal rate and overcut produced. The results of experiments has been shown in various graphs. After knowing the significant factors, the model for the process is also developed, to know the behaviour of the process in mathematical form.
