Abstract: Considerable interest has been developed to safeguard the environment from the conventional Refrigerants which cause the depletion of ozone level in the stratosphere region and leads to global warming of the atmosphere. This has motivated - the Refrigeration Scientists to find "stratospherically safe" new refrigerants which are thermodynamically similar to R12 and considered to be a. potential of direct replacement for environmentally unacceptable refrigerants in Refrigeration application. The vapour pressure data of the two proposed newer refrigerants have been calculated using vapour pressure equation. Detailed - thermodynamic properties of the proposed newer refrigerants have been established over a wide range of temperature and pressure. The method employs 'Martin-Hou equation -of state', the properties, viz., the enthalpy, entropy and specific volume of saturated liquid, vapour and superheated vapour have been computed. The analysis of simple vapour compression cycle using these two newer refrigerants showed favourable coefficient of performance, mass flow rate and unit power consumption per ton of refrigeration
