Abstract: In this investigation a PC based software for estimation of thermal behaviour of pulse current GMAW has been developed in C-language. A mathematical model for f.tb(lb-I) + I correlationship among pulse parameters as = 1 has also been worked m out. A summarised influence of pulse parameters defined as a factor 0 has been correlated with the weld thermal behaviour, behaviour of metal transfer and weld characteristics of GMA weld deposits of aluminium alloy and stainless steel. The behaviour of weld characteristics have also been correlated with the weld thermal behaviour estimated by the analytical model. It is observed that a concept of temperature gradient in between the filler metal deposited during the two consecutive pulses acts as a satisfactory parameter to study the effect of pulse current welding on weld characteristics.
