As a result of magnetic field application, the arc gets deflected depending upon force direction as described by fundamental electromagnetic rules. Beneficial effect are evident only with respect to direction of electrode travel. Applying an optimum magnetic field to a welding arc provides a possibility of greater flexibility in welding techniques at increased speed on both magnetic and non magnetic materials, and also the presence of magnetic field in strength exerts a strong effect on the quality of welded joint. In this present work longitudinal magnetic field was applied during welding and the effect of magnetic field on weld bead geometry and on strength characteristics was observeden_US
