Issue Date: | 1995 |
Abstract: | V- Process is a new process. It makes use of dry, unbonded and free-flowing sand which gets bonded by means of vacuum. It is a binderless process. All the limitations imposed by the binders and additives are absent. This technique is revolutionary and offers both cost saving and product quality improvement. The process reduces the consumption of materials, changes the plant and equipment requirement, improves quality of rough castings and -alters the characteristics of finished castings. Since the solidification time of the casting is longer , compared to the conventional process, in order to increase the solidification rate ,, different additives are recommended in literature. But the additives have had some adverse effect on other casting. Flyash which is ejected out of thermal power plants as waste material has been used as an additive in the proposed work. The present work is aimed to analyse the effect of flyash on the various quality characteristics such as soundness and mechanical properties. |
