Abstract: Computer Communication Networks is an area that focuses on the study of communication interface, connecting media, access, routing, flow control and error control. In implementing a network, it is necessary first to determine if the network will function properly in the specific environment and then to predict the performance of the network and compare it to the system requirements. Simulation modelling, is presently the most effective-means of performing a detailed analysis of.a network. During the past few years, the token ring technique had emerged as an important technology for local area networking. Token rings have the potential to provide efficient, cost effective, reliable and versatile communication. Due to their bounded delay characteristics they are ideally suited for time constrained communication e.g. voice traffic. This thesis comprises of the study of performance of token ring when subjected to an integrated voice and data load simultaneously. Network parameters such as number of nodes, offered load, control time for voice traffic and packet size have been varied to demonstrate their effect on the network performance. Finally simulation results and the program listing are presented.
