dc.description.abstract | Wavelet Transform is a new technique for image compression. It is Intrinsically superior to other transform image compression techniques as it takes Into account psychovisual features both In the space and frequency domains. In this dissertation, the compression method that has been developed associates a wavelet .transform and a vector quantization coding scheme.
