Title: IMPLEMENTATION OF TCP SERVICE CALLS
Authors: Sudhakar, J. V.
Keywords: ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING;TCP SERVICE CALL;DOD NETWORK;APPLICATION LAYER
Issue Date: 1991
Abstract: In DOD ( Department of defence) protocol architecture TCP ( Transmission Control Protocol ) is a key layer. DOD network layer architecture contains four layers. Any layer can make use of the services of the layers immediately below it. Since there is no standard subnet available, a pseudo network access layer ( the bottom most layer ) is assumed. Since we are dealing with the services of only the TCP a pseudo internet layer is also assumed. Taking in to consideration of these factors, TCP services are developed. These services are used in the application process ( file transfer ). The system calls of UNIX are widely used in developing these service calls and the program is written in C under UNIX operating system.
