dc.description.abstractLow-noise amplifier (LNA) is a small signal amplifier used in the front end of almost every receiving system. It amplifies the input signal to produce a useful signal to noise ratio at the output of the receiver. The dissertation aims at presenting the basic design theory and principles of LNA design. The design techniques make use of two-port S-parameters and noise parameters of the transistor together with Smith chart. To make the designer job easier and faster, the computer programs have been developed. The design procedure is illustrated with a typical LNA design example. Some low-noise devices have also been discussed.en_US
