Issue Date: 1991
Abstract: An experimental distributed query processing system is designed and implemented for a microcomputer network. The system integrates discrete databases existing over different sites of the network . It presents an interactive query interface and isolates the whereabouts of a database from the users; therefore a casual user uses the system as if he worked in a conventional database system. The source code for the system is written in c- language. The scanner and the parser were initially developed on HP- 9000 m/c under the unix environment and then ported to PC. This was done to take advantage of the unix -lex" and "yacc" facilities. The rest of the system was developed on WIPRO PC/AT under the MS-DOS environment and using the TURBO-C compiler.
