Abstract: Most of the single layer thin sheet radar absorbets in use today, are generally narrow band absorbers. To overcome this drawback, too hybrid absorber design approaches, are discussed. The design procedure for' the two design methods, of designing w a broad band single layer thin sheet microwave absorber are described. Using the proposed design approach a single layer absorber of thickness lessthan 2mm, has been designed to give a' minimum 10dB absorption over 8 to 18 GHz., with barium ferrite as the radar absorbing material and rubber as the binder. Based on the design, a thin sheet absorber has been fabricated and tested.. The absorption obtained follows the theoritically predicted values. A Measuring technique for testing a thin sheet absorber is proposed, based on which and Absorber Testing Device (ATD) has been fabricated and tested. The ATD can be used for both single frequency measurement or swept frequency measurement..
