Title: AN INVESTIGATION INTO THE `ENGINE NOISE SOURCES' OF A DIESEL POWER PLANT
Authors: Goel, Arun Kumar
Keywords: MECHANICAL INDUSTRIAL ENGINEERING;ENGINE NOISE SOURCES;DIESEL POWER PLANT;NOISE SOURCE
Issue Date: 1985
Abstract: The aim of the investigation is to identify the major engine noise sources in a multicylinder diesel power plant of a heavy vehicle on a test bed. The major noise sources of the engine studied were oil pan, oil pump, air intake with and without filter and exhaust. The influence of different parameters like load and speed on engine noise is also studied. it has been observed that the important •noise source of a diesel engine is oil pan. sir intake and oil pumr, also make significant contribution to the engine noise. The effect of speed on noise radiations of different sources is remarka-ble as compared to the effect of load. The radiation of noise from different sources with variation of speed and load are in conformity with the results produced by earlier investigators
