Title: DEVELOPMENT OF AN EXPERT SYSTEM SHELL FOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND EVALUATION
Authors: Chawla, Balwinder
Keywords: ELECTRONICS AND COMPUTER ENGINEERING;EXPERT SYSTEM SHELL;ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AND EVALUATION;XARCH
Issue Date: 1993
Abstract: computer aided architectural design and evaluation. The expert system shell, XARCH, as it has been named is a rule-based expert system. Knowledge and facts are acquired from the user through a menu driven screen. Inferencing of conclusions has been achieved by using forward chaining with a depth- first search strategy. Easy access to external programs as well as the operating system are its other salient features. This shell will have practical applications in extracting knowledge from domain-specific heuristics and making that expert knowledge available to the users. It has been implemented in Turbo C on an IBM PC-AT compatible.
