Study in the field of «4»pyrenes attracted attention %*hen It was observed that certain cupyrona derivatives ccur in nature. Many of then are present *** toad venornvs >frnlbs of white and red squill and are highly physiologically active. These contain an «Hpyron© ring substituted at 5-positlon by a steroidal a©elty# Tyrone derivatives such as te3Ma£&,narlx)dlnlD etc, have been found to have antiseptic and diujatic pro perties and have been used in treatment of gonorrhoea. CouBsrlne which are $:6 bensoalpha-pyrones are also of no less li^portance froa physiological point of view, Thus dieousaerol has a strong blood anticoagulant action. Certain coundrln derivatives having blood anticoagulant action, have been syntheslsed and reccu&ended for therapy. Couoartn and its derivatives have been ertenatively otudied. The isost recent inter st In the choralstry of ^pyrones has steraastf froa a possible relationship between their reaction with bases m4 biosynthesis ef phenolic cosBpoomls in which polyketldos are possibly formed, A» alpha-pyrone of special significance is dehydracetie acid in Its enol fern and has boon cutpressed as 3»acetyl^*hyclrosy«6*«»©thyl»2*»pyrone. It has also reported biological activity such as antiseptic, preservativeen_US
