Abstract: The current era witnesses a growing demand for automation, efficiency, connectivity, and decision&#xD;
making intelligence in logistics. This is particularly important considering that logistics activities &#xD;
significantly contribute to the GDP and profoundly impact various social and environmental aspects &#xD;
of daily life. As a result, national governments are introducing various programs and incentives to &#xD;
enhance logistics sustainability and performance through technological solutions. &#xD;
Logistics companies in India are currently in the initial phases of establishing a digital ecosystem, &#xD;
acknowledging the considerable potential for growth and innovation. The cyber-physical system &#xD;
(CPS) is a well-proven technology for improving system performance and resilience. Many &#xD;
manufacturing firms have already been connected to various production equipment in cyberspace. &#xD;
However, the logistics industry has scanty practices connecting logistical equipment with &#xD;
cyberspace.  &#xD;
This thesis aims to delve into the transformative potential of CPS in revolutionising freight logistics &#xD;
operations. It aims to investigate the barriers to CPS adoption in emerging economies, prioritising &#xD;
actors and actions to enhance the logistics organisation’s readiness to enhance adoption and explore &#xD;
the development of a CPS-IoT ecosystem to achieve connected logistics operations within the realm &#xD;
of CPS in freight transportation.</description>

Abstract: Workplace incivility is a ubiquitous unethical phenomenon that has burgeoned extensively in &#xD;
the last two decades. A diverse range of studies spanning different organisational settings &#xD;
supports the premise that workplace incivility has severe long-term implications that should &#xD;
not be overlooked. This is especially true for service-based industries like the hospitality &#xD;
sector. Since the hospitality industry is so exclusively profit-driven at the expense of &#xD;
providing high-quality service, it creates a highly stressful and volatile work atmosphere that &#xD;
may incite subtle misbehaviours and even escalate to aggression among employees. Previous &#xD;
literature has established that workplace incivility is a grave concern across the hotel industry, &#xD;
disrupting the work, deteriorating well-being and hampering individual as well as &#xD;
organisational performance. Thus, the present study undertakes the task of exploring the &#xD;
implications of workplace incivility in the hospitality sector of Delhi/NCR, a cosmopolitan &#xD;
segment and capital of India. In order to demonstrate the damaging effects of workplace &#xD;
rudeness on Indian hospitality professionals' intentions to leave and their tendency to hide &#xD;
knowledge, the current study employs resource-based and exchange theories. For this &#xD;
purpose, a survey was undertaken with a sample of 326 participants working in the budget &#xD;
hotels of Delhi/NCR, India. The collected data was analysed using SPSS, AMOS and Hayes &#xD;
PROCESS Macro. The findings reveal that hotel employees undergo depersonalisation as a &#xD;
result of incivility, which further leads to hiding knowledge and developing intentions to quit &#xD;
their organisations. The study also establishes an individual resource – psychological capital &#xD;
that can help dampen the effect of incivility on the targets. Although these dimensions have &#xD;
been used in previous studies either alone or in combination with other variables, no study &#xD;
has fully defined these ideas and examined the interrelated ways in which one influences the &#xD;
other. Therefore, this study offers an uncharted and unexplored conceptual model that seeks &#xD;
to contribute to the incivility as well as the hospitality literature. The current study aims to &#xD;
raise awareness among hospitality managers and organisations regarding the seriousness of &#xD;
the incivility issue and provides insight into the techniques that may be able to prevent this &#xD;
type of behaviour in the workplace.</description>

Abstract: Within the dynamics of the ever-evolving workplace, change is predominantly driven by factors such as automation and technological adoption, hybrid workplace models, diffusion of hierarchy, and continuous reorganization and restructuring. In the face of such rapid shifts, employee proactivity and self-management skills emerge as crucial driving forces behind organizational sustenance and success. In a similar vein, amidst the highly volatile market conditions, the success of the hospitality sector highlights the critical role that its employees play in catering to customers’ varied demands and contributing to the overall efficiency of the industry. The influence of their proactive efforts extends far beyond the standard practices of service delivery; it provides a competitive edge and influences the firm’s standing in the market, as well as the satisfaction and loyalty of its clientele. Capitalizing upon these observations derived from the research literature, this study, therefore, intends to investigate the influence of hotel employees’ job crafting behaviors on their inclination to engage in extra-role work behaviors via the mediating function of work engagement (a psychological mechanism) and through the moderating effects of role breadth self-efficacy (a cognitive pathway). This study also proceeds a step further to examine the intertwined complexities of the concepts by testing a moderated mediation model. The objectives were achieved through a survey undertaken among 335 hotel employees employed across a wide range of hotel establishments located in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. The data collected was analyzed using the analytic strategy of Structural Equation Modelling with the help of two software, namely, IBM SPSS Statistics (Version 27) and IBM SPSS AMOS (Version 27). The study findings delineated a positive association between job crafting and work engagement, and job crafting emerged as a significant predictor of hotel employees’ demonstration of extra-role work behaviors. The findings also demonstrated that work engagement mediated the relationship between job crafting and extra-role work behaviors, providing evidence for the psychological mechanism of this proactivity-performance association. Next, the results revealed role breadth self-efficacy as a cognitive pathway moderating the relationship between job crafting and its outcome variables. Lastly, the study also found significant evidence for the moderated mediating model representing role breadth self-efficacy as a moderating mechanism of the mediating function of work engagement on job crafting-extra-role behavior relationship. From the practical standpoint, in light of these findings, hospitality organizations are recommended to recognize, encourage, and empower employees to actively demonstrate job-crafting behaviors so as to enhance their levels of engagement and reap benefits from their consequent discretionary efforts at the workplace in the form of innovative work behavior and proactive customer service performance. From a theoretical viewpoint, the study’s contribution lies in its attempt to integrate multiple classic theories, such as the JD-R model, affective-events theory, social exchange theory, and social cognitive theory, to broaden the literary discourse about the complexities of important workplace concepts namely job crafting, work engagement, extra-role work behaviors, and RBSE.</description>

Abstract: The food industry is so huge that it touches nearly every corner around the globe. The climate&#xD;
emergency as issued by the UN for the entire world due to the increasing carbon emissions. This&#xD;
is the result of unsustainable practices and overuse of the limited resources. Intending to bring&#xD;
social, economic, and environmental sustainability, a total of 17 Sustainable Development Goals&#xD;
(SDG) 2030 and 169 targets was framed at the United Nations in September 2015, where 193&#xD;
countries agreed with the mission of creating the world a better place to live. The goals are&#xD;
integrated in such a way that, the aim of making food supply chain sustainable will contribute to&#xD;
the outcomes of other goals i.e., SDG 3 (Good health and well-being), SDG 6 (clean water and&#xD;
sanitation), SDG 7 (affordable and clean energy), SDG 9 (industry, innovation, and&#xD;
infrastructure), SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities), SDG 12 (sustainable consumption&#xD;
and production), SDG 13 (climate action), SDG 14 (life below water) and SDG 15 (life on land).&#xD;
India’s agriculture sector is majorly dependent on seasonal rainfall, and due to the climatic shifts&#xD;
and interruptions in the rain patterns, the food sector is hit majorly. An average of 1.9% and 1.2%&#xD;
per decade yield reductions are recorded globally due to climate shifts (IPCC, 2018; Kong and&#xD;
Wang, 2022). In India, 87% of carbon emissions in the agriculture sector come from the&#xD;
production phase, followed by the preparation phase (10%), and the rest in processing (2%) and&#xD;
transportation phase (1%) (Pathak et al., 2012). The dependency on coal for energy production&#xD;
needs to be reduced, and the shift toward renewable energy sources requires an hour. India at the&#xD;
26th Conference of Parties held in Glasgow, UK in 2021, declared that by 2030 India would meet&#xD;
its fifty percent requirement from renewable energy to install 500 gigawatts (GW) of energy&#xD;
capacity and thus, will reduce the carbon intensity by 45% by reducing carbon emissions by one&#xD;
billion tonnes. The ever-increasing carbon emissions lead to global warming, impacting major&#xD;
areas like habitat, water resources, food production, and social concerns (Lee et al., 2021; Faubert&#xD;
et al., 2020). The past research suggests that food industry faces various challenges such as poor&#xD;
logistic network, limited expertise in information and technology, lack of cold chain and storage&#xD;
facilities, traceability issues, uncertainties in the food supply chain, etc. Contemplating at the&#xD;
concerns of the food supply chain, the study aims at obtaining the challenges of the food supply&#xD;
chain, finding the novel strategies to overcome these challenges. Thus, this study is an effort to&#xD;
find the possibilities for making the food supply chain sustainable.</description>
